HOW TO SURVIVE WORKING OR TAKING CLASSES REMOTELY

Many of us have been working from home for many years but the coronavirus has brought us to a place that the number of people who will have to work from home or do classes remotely has increased drastically. Take advantage of the time that you will have to limit your social contacts.

Many of our team members have been working from the main office location and from home for many years as well as teaching online courses or classes. There’s still much to learn but we have come a long way.

There are some things you can do in order to survive while working from home or taking classes remotely.

Over-communicate

Make sure you are sharing on a daily basis with your team or students.

Invest in great technology

Make sure to have the most updated software or apps that will support your success.

Focus while in your online classroom or Working.

Limit distractions of TV

Social Media

Family

Messages from your phone

Lean on your community

Don’t isolate yourself but build an online community with coworkers or classmates.

Have an identified time to wake up and start your day

Consider your workspace

Identify the space you will work from in your home.  If you have an office that’s great but if you don’t just find a space that you can be comfortable and stay focused.  Your bed is never a good place to be while working or in your online class.

Have a daily schedule prepared

Review your schedule so that you can stay prepared and on time for all meetings and classes.

Take time for self-care

Make sure to take breaks in between working and classes. Take a lunch break and go for a walk if you can or just sit and relax without technology devices.

Log off devices

Have a set time to log off of your devices and make sure you get adequate rest.

Embrace the perks of working remotely

During your downtime and when you cannot be around, other people spend time working on a hobby or side hustle that you can do online or from home.

Prepare your meals so that you stop to eat a snack or lunch.

Break Times

If you have back to back classes or online meetings make sure every 20 – 30 minutes to stand up and stretch.
